Superiore "Campo Morar" 2020
One of our favorites! The best food wine in Valpolicella? Great value! The wine has a deep and intense color. Layers of delicate blackcurrant, blackberry and cherry transition into a rich intensity of blueberries and blackcurrant. Pleasant floral notes add finesse to the aromatic nose, with hints of tobacco and hazelnut. On the palate the wine is very well balanced and long-lasting, with velvety tannins that smoothly emerge in the finish. A fantastic Valpolicella, a pure expression of its noble terroir.
Grape varieties: Corvina 70%, Rondinella 30%
Vineyard work: The wine is produced from a single vineyard ( Campo Morar ), without grape selection for Amarone, which means that the best grapes in the vineyard go into this wine.
60% of the grapes are harvested and vinified in September/October. Maceration (approximately 10 days) takes place in a specially designed vinification tank that allows for temperature control and controlled maceration.
40% of the grapes undergo appassimento (drying process) for about a month (compared to 3 months for an Amarone)
At the end of October, these grapes are pressed in the same way as for Amarone and then aged for 18 months in barriques.
